Court again refuses to issue Interpol warrant for Udayanga

The Colombo Fort Magistrate has again refused to issue a warrant through Interpol for the arrest of Sri Lanka’s former Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga.The police Financial Crimes Investigations Division sought the arrest warrant on Weeratunga as part of ongoing investigations over fraud. The court had earlier rejected the request to issue a warrant through Interpol but later it said it will look into the request again today.Udayanga Weeratunga is said to be in Ukraine and he is wanted to be questioned over the controversial MiG aircraft deal.
