Despite losing all our games so far, one of our best games was this afternoon against the NCD Meros where we lost 7-1. National Triathlon titles set for May 15

first_imgThe titles will now take place on Sunday, May 15, at Ela Beach in Port Moresby.Event organiser Stephen Damien confirmed that the event will take place on Sunday as they’re unable to get road closure on Saturday to let athletes use the Ela Beach and Paga Hill Road.Events on the day include super sprint and sprint distances in individual as well as team categories. There’ll also be an aquathlon race of 300m swim and 2km run.The championships will be used to select a team to Solomon Islands for the 4th Pacific Islands Triathlon (PIT) Championships. The PIT Championships will only host super sprint and sprint races so selections will be in these two categories. Damien said previously that this is a great opportunity for the new clubs to send their junior athletes to the national championships for possible selection into the junior squad for the super sprint races.A junior development workshop will take place a few days before the national championships to give the young athletes some basic triathlon skills before the major event. “This is still in the pipeline but we hope that we can get this done before the race,” Damien said. The PNG Triathlon annual general meeting will be held as scheduled on May 14.last_img read more

McIlroy ‘facing big changes’

first_imgThe 76-year-old 18-time major winner, says everything changes when a sportsman decides to tie the knot and have a family, and which often detracts from the focus of playing professional golf.McIlroy announced earlier this year that he and fiancée Erica Stoll are currently planning their wedding for the summer of 2017.And Nicklaus has issued a warning to the 27-year-old from Northern Ireland, telling the BBC: “When you are young and single, and one dimensional, you pretty much can do things at your leisure.”Once you get married, have a family, other business interests, then you’ve got to learn how to manage your time and use it efficiently.”He has to work hard, focus on what he is trying to do. He has all the tools, it is just whether he has the desire and willingness to give up some of the other things.”Whether he wants to be the greatest player to have played the game, that’s his determination and it’s his decision whether he wants to make that effort to try and do that.”Nicklaus also believes McIlroy has largely claimed his four majors to date on his enormous talent but will need to work hard to make improvements to his game. The American added: “If he wishes to dominate and go forward, then he’s got to improve.”Rory is one of those young men who has got a tremendous amount of talent. He has won and played on his talent to this point.”last_img read more

Barça built the Sextete in the previous recession (2008)

first_imgThe coronavirus crisis threatens an economic tsunami in all sectors. Of course, also in the football industry and, therefore, in clubs. It is easy to suppose that a team like Barça, which has exceeded 1,000 million income, will also be seriously affected by the recession. It is convenient to look back and see what Barça’s behavior was in the last great world economic crisis, that of 2008.And it was timely. With the team undone in the last two years of the Ronaldinho era, Barça rebuilt itself with a restrained investment, typical of times of recession. For starters, and thanks to a bold decision by Laporta and his advisers, including Johan Cruyff, he hired a cheap coach, such as Guardiola at the time, who had just promoted to the subsidiary. That decision meant, among others, ruling out Mourinho, one of the most expensive coaches in the world at the time for his successes in Porto and Chelsea. Barça was rejuvenated. Sold to Ronaldinho ($ 24.15 million), Zambrotta ($ 10.50), Deco ($ 10.00), Giovani (6) and Oleguer (3). Guardiola was in love with Daniel Alves, whom Madrid wanted. Barça won. His signing cost 35.50 million, but few better partners has Messi had. Barça also signed Hleb (17), Martín Cáceres (16.5), Keita (14), Henrique (8) and a certain Gerard Piqué for six million euros. Pinto came free. Not counting the goalkeeper, who was already signing at the age of 32, Barça paid for players with an average of 23 years. Players like Alves and Piqué gave Barça a physical and competitive boost, that in that summer of 2008, when the economic recession was a fact and Lehman Brothers was about to fall (September), he was building a historic team.last_img read more

How are the 10 players on loan from Cádiz doing?

first_imgBrian Oliván (25 years old) left on loan to Girona last summer. The left back plays when Mojica ‘leaves’ him. The Colombian is a fixture in the onces of Martí so the Spanish has had to settle for six games played in the League, (four as holder and two as substitute). The Catalan team has a purchase option on the side, so if they executed it, the defender would not return to Cádiz at the end of this season. Javi Navarro (23 years old) is one of the discoveries of this season. The pearl of the Cádiz quarry left on loan to Ponferradina during the past winter market to continue its training. In the Bercian team he has played four games, one of them as owner. The people of Cádiz have high hopes for the end, which started the season in Cervera’s starting eleven (and scoring) and will return to Cádiz once the campaign ends. He is called to be one of the important players in the near future of the yellows.Matos (Twente) Cádiz has ten players on loan from other teams. Six of them will return to the Cadiz team automatically once the 2019-20 season ends. On three of them, the team in which they are on loan has a purchase option; and a last one ends the contract and will automatically renew with the yellow ones, if they ascend to First. Below we will detail how each player is doing.Dani Romera (Alcorcón) Another player who has high hopes for Cádiz. Christian Martínez (23 years old) came to the yellow team in the winter market and went directly to Recreativo, on loan. The Panamanian is having a hard time adapting and in the Huelva team he has only played four games and in all, leaving from the bench. The winger holds the honor of being the youngest player in history to score a goal with the Columbus Crew of the MSL, where he has spent part of his short career in football. He will return to Cádiz in June.Javi Navarro (Ponferradina) Matos (24 years old) has had no fortune in Twente. In his first two games in the Netherlands he made a big impression, however a serious knee injury has prevented him from developing his football. The player returned to Spain and has been treating at Real Madrid facilities. Last season he had a lot of presence in the yellow team, playing 21 games. Before leaving on loan renewed its link with the cadists until 2022, so once your loan is finished, you will return to Cádiz.Querol (Albacete) Sergio Sánchez (33 years old) was one of the fixed defenders last season and This winter market left Cádiz in search of minutes. In the Cádiz team he had a lot of competition with Cala, Fali, Marcos Mauro, Rhyner and even the youth squad Sergio González, one of the irruptions this season. Nevertheless in Albacete he has not found stability in the eleven, with people ahead like captain Arroyo and excadista Kecojevic. He has only played one game, against Ponferradina on matchday 27. Sergio Sánchez left for Albacete with no purchase option. The next season is free unless Cádiz ascends. In this case your contract would be automatically renewed. Sevilla youth squad, with whom he debuted in First. The right-back came to Racing last summer, after having played seven games with the yellows the previous season. In the Cantabrian team, Carmona (23 years old) has been a starter during some phase of the season and he has been alternating it with games starting from the bench, playing a total of 13 matches. Racing has a purchase option to keep the player in property.Caye (Fuenlabrada)center_img Christian Martínez (Recreational) Without a doubt, the player who is taking the most advantage of his loan. Dani Romera (24 years old), is a fixture at Alcorcón, either as a starter (15 games) or entering from the bench (12). In total 27 games that they are serving to make him burn in Second. In the Madrid team he has demonstrated all his qualities, he is one of the 14 players who have more than 1,000 minutes and has scored four goals. Last season he was already on loan in the silver category, this time at Rayo Majadahonda, Count scored two goals in 13 games (he signed for the Madrid team mid-season). The Alcorcón could stay on the ram in property, since it has a purchase option on the player.Jovanovic (Cartagena) Jovanovic (21 years old) has been one of the most regular players on loan at his destination club. The Serb left in the summer for Cartagena, a team called to ascend to the Silver Division. It has not been easy, he has found a lot of competition there, however he has had good times during some phases of the season. Total He has played 16 matches with the leading team of Group 3 of Segunda B and he has scored three goals, to which must be added a double against Leioa in a Cup match. The young striker will return to the discipline of Cádiz, once the season ends.Carmona (Racing) Querol (31 years old) had a lot of competition in Cádiz and went out in the winter market looking for minutes, after having played two half seasons with those from Cádiz. It is true that in the last games he found his best version, with four goals in four games, but in the League he only played one game as the owner of a total of six. In Albacete he has not found the continuity he wanted. Fuster is at his best since he is a professional and Zozulia is a fixture, so the Reus striker has had to settle for 53 minutes spread over two games. He will return to Cádiz once his loan ends., since Albacete has no purchase option on the player.Sergio Sánchez (Albacete) The Huelva striker left Cádiz during the last winter market in search of minutes. In Fuenlabrada, Caye (26 years old) has played seven games since his arrival and he has been on the verge of scoring on several occasions, however he has not been fortunate for the goal. In Cádiz he found a lot of competition, but he had minutes. He played 13 games and scored a goal (great goal) against Malaga. Will return once the season ends, since the fuenlabreños have no purchase option.Brian Oliván (Girona)last_img read more

“I think I’m closer to training in Spain again”

first_imgEmery hopes he can do it in the Spanish competition: “In my league, or where I feel something for it, I always want the best to be there. And now that I am in Spain and I feel Spanish I want the best players to be there. I would like Messi to continue, Cristiano to have followed, Neymar to come back . Having those players in our league makes us bigger. “Asked about how he is managing his current moment now that he does not train, he indicated: “When I have trained I have always been very focused on the current situation of my teams, with no longer focus on other teams, other countries and other football ..”. “Now I am doing it, watching many games, different types of teams, how they play. I try to improve. Also, I am reading, writing, updating things from before. I’m trying to use this moment to see what I can improve on from what I’ve done so far, trying to get out of this break prepared and with wider prisms “he expressed.Emery analyzed how the return of football could be after confinement due to the coronavirus health crisis: “Returning from this is one more process, seeing how we can compete. The teams will be different and some may do better because others adapt less . The return is going to be an unknown as to how we are going to respond. “In the event that football resumes, it would probably be without an audience in the stands: “I think the fact that there are no spectators is going to make the game colder, but people are demanding to have sports on television.” “We will get out of this by learning to live differently. For example, now I am learning to be at home, to have hours where I can get bored and I see it as normal. People demand normality, always respecting the coronavirus, because they want to to contribute things, “he said. The Spanish coach Unai Emery showed on Tuesday his availability to start a new professional adventure after his departure from the English Arsenal and the preference that this be in the Spanish league, without closing doors in other countries. “I am open to training. In Spain, in England, in Italy, in France, elsewhere … but if you ask me where you think you will be able to be, I think I’m closer to the Spanish league. And I feel like it, I’ve been away for four years, “he said on Eurosport’s ‘Confinados’ program.“After four years it was if I have a good chance of returning to Spain and I feel like it, I want to face it. The first objective is to return next season, but if I don’t find anything that fits what I can get excited about or get to my heart, I will wait, “he added.Regarding the Brazilian Neymar, whom he trained at Paris Saint-Germain, he said: “He has a great heart. You have to understand people, empathize. His type of life is star and there are many things that escape us. But he has a good heart, you see it when you link a conversation with him”.“Neymar has the conditions to be the best in the world, it has been an honor for me to work with him. He is impressive in training, in games. It has the capacity, but between his environment and everyone has to encourage him to dedicate five years to football 100% because he can get to be on the pedestal. It is to become aware, to be aware and find the way, “he said.last_img read more

Lightning ERTE has been supported

first_imgUntil this outcome, it was hoped to reach an understanding between the parties as has happened in other entities and by the economic situation of this one in particular. “With 19 million surplus and € 21M entered by the transfers, you have to have two eggs and go out to secure the wages of your employees. I’m not talking about Barça or Atlético. I’m talking about Lightning, that’s why I give those numbers, “coach Paco Jémez stated bluntly a few days ago in ‘Estudio Estadio’.Beyond the first team, ERTE also It has affected the Rayo Femenino, the Foundation, the quarry … And the workers who are on a daily basis of the club, although with particularities. In some cases it is a reduction in working hours and, therefore, salary; while in others, ERTE is total: they would only collect 70% of the contribution base from the State. A month after Rayo acknowledged his intention to apply an ERTE, it has become effective. It has already been admitted, as AS has learned, and so the workers have been notified since Friday, May 1. The Temporary Employment Regulation File will also affect the coach, Paco Jémez, and the staff of the first team, who will experience a 70% reduction in their emoluments since the alarm state was decreed (14-M). Thus, will be retroactive, since players and coaching staff normally received their salary for the month of March. This news has been a jug of cold water for all redhead employees. And is that captains have met with the club and put forward various proposals for weeks to try to avoid this scenario and try to ensure that the most vulnerable workers (those who need their salary to make ends meet) do not lose a single euro in the process. Agreement has not been possible and the general feeling is one of deep disappointment.last_img read more
