This isn’t the first year this was offered to residents.Jim Patrie, the director of the solid waste department for Tuscaloosa County stopped by the County Commission to share how clean-up day went. He also said that despite the severe weather, it did not affect their operations.“We utilized 25 bins out there, and for us that’s a record,” said Patrie. “We haven’t been able to capture that much since we’ve been doing this the last six or seven years, so it was really good. And the tornadoes didn’t bother us any at all.”Patrie said that this was a part of their free bulk pickup service they offer. He said waste management will send out an informational flier about it to all people on their service, in hopes that more people will use it in the future.
